In this video we’ll be rebuilding a Dell Inspiron 3647 Small Form Factor (SFF) Desktop PC.
The current specs on this machine include a Pentium G3220 3.0 GHz processor, 8 GB of memory, a 500 GB HDD, a 220-watt power supply and an Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 Silence video card with 1 GB DDR3 and VGA/DVI/HDMI video connections.
This is the machine we tore down to parts about four months ago in the video “Dell Inspiron 3647 Small Form Factor (SFF) Teardown to Parts”. So today we’ll be trying to put the pieces back together as they were originally, and we’ll try it out. One of the complications for rebuilding a system where you’ve removed the cooling solution from the CPU is that you must work to re-establish a clean, heat transferring surface between the CPU and the cooling solution. That is where the Arctic Silver products serve a critical function. The 3 main components of the process are Thermal Material Remover to remove the old thermal compound, Thermal Surface Purifier to increase the ability of the metal CPU case and the thermal solution to transfer heat away from the CPU and fresh Thermal Compound to act as the medium for efficient heat transfer. So, other than solving thermal issues, our problem will be to reinstall the right parts to the right place in the computer and to not forget to connect anything.
As I noted in this video I don’t work building or rebuilding PC hardware enough to be of technical help.
