There are several simple ways to test your camera’s autofocus system. You may want to assess how quickly your camera locks focus, as well as how accurately it maintains focus once it has been acquired. When evaluating your camera using the linked, printable focus targets, be sure to examine both the center and the edges of your images. These topics—and more—are covered in this video.
Before watching the video or printing the targets, however, keep in mind that autofocus systems typically require ample light to perform well. Additionally, frequently switching between subjects may not allow your autofocus system sufficient time to respond accurately.
